| Summary: | The article links the genesis and development of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to the broader cultural transformation process, which we have called "globalization". The focus will be the sense, or the meaning, that NGOs take together, at the heart of this process. The objective will be to understand, starting from the "NGO" phenomenon, the social conditions, which, especially from the first half of the 20th century, opened space for new forms of political articulation and, at the same time, for a new configuration of institutional structures of power. |
