Description
Summary:This article presents, briefly, the role of Brazilian sociologist and historian Oliveira Vianna in the construction of concepts about race relations in Brazil, considering him, alongside other formulators of a racial discourse, as a crucial author in the construction of identity Brazilian national. To this end, we will seek to establish a critical reading of Oliveira Vianna's work, understanding that although it is not possible to encompass the totality of his thought, one can at least launch hypotheses about the perspectives of this intellectual. For this analysis we used the theories proposed by Karl Mannheim and Antonio Gramsci, looking at it in the light of the sociology of knowledge.
