Description
Summary:This article defends military education as a relevant variable to think about a professionalization that increases the security of society itself. This is noticeable in the work of Huntington (1996) and his critics. For this, the article is organized in three parts. In the first, there is a brief historical tour of the origins of the discussion about military professionalization. The purpose of the second part is to evaluate the bibliography that supports our position that the central variable of military professionalization is education. Finally, in the third and last part, we present the education system of the Brazilian Army and some of its challenges for the professionalization in a democracy.
