Description
Summary:This text is a review of the book Ausências Incorporidas: an ethnography among relatives of dead and missing politicians in Brazil, by Desirée Azevedo, published in 2018 by Editora da Unifesp. The review aims to present the main points of the work and point to possible critical directions, in addition to assessing the impact that this constitutes in the specialized academic debate. Based on an extensive ethnography with movements of relatives of missing persons from the Brazilian Military Dictatorship (1964-1985), Azevedo demonstrates the intimate relationship between politics, kinship ties and the dispute for memory.
