Summary:The article investigates the origins of Brazilian rock of 80s, through literature review. It begins analyzing some styles and musical movements that could have given rise to a youth music market, but not succeeded, as the vanguard of São Paulo, the punk movement and darks. Then, the article discuss the new wave from Rio, that in early 1980 gave rise to the first cycle of '80s rock. Finally, it analyzes the second cycle of '80s rock, which had in Sao Paulo-Brasilia axis your support. It highlights in this history, on the one hand, the cultural industry, which wanted to find a music market that supported the phonographic production. On the other hand, the youths of the middle classes, whose social values were far from the politicization of the 1960s.
