La imagen de un artista rebelde, filósofo, rockero místico y anarquista ha impreso miles de camisetas, motivó el lanzamiento de películas y libros, ganó portadas y orientó el interés de los medios y trabajos académicos sobre Raúl Seixas. Esta imagen fue poco estudiada precisamente porque se entendió como una expresión genuina de la trayectoria y personalidad de Raúl Seixas. Sin embargo, ella no nació terminada y enfrentó, antes de convertirse en objeto de culto, numerosos percances. En este artículo pretendemos analizar el inicio de esta construcción imaginaria, los recursos escénicos movilizados por el cantante en esta construcción y su recepción por los medios de comunicación. En este itinerario trataremos de entender cómo las canciones, testimonios y presentaciones públicas de Raúl Seixas fueron recibidas por los críticos musicales y jugaron un papel importante en la composición de esta imagen que ahora conoce Raúl Seixas. A imagem de um artista rebelde, de um roqueiro filósofo, místico e anarquista tem estampado milhares de camisetas, motivado o lançamento de filmes e livros, conquistado covers e orientado o interesse da mídia e de trabalhos acadêmicos acerca de Raul Seixas. Esta imagem foi pouco estudada exatamente por ser entendida como genuína expressão da trajetória e da personalidade de Raul Seixas. No entanto, ela não nasceu acabada e enfrentou, antes de se tornar objeto de culto, inúmeros percalços. Pretendemos, neste artigo, analisar o início dessa construção imagética, os recursos performáticos mobilizados pelo cantor nessa construção e sua recepção pela mídia. Nesse itinerário, tentaremos entender como as músicas de Raul Seixas, seus depoimentos e apresentações públicas foram recebidos pela crítica musical e tiveram importância na composição dessa imagem hoje conhecida de Raul Seixas.
