Description
Summary:Through the comparative analysis of the backgrounds and positions of two artists that occupy distinct places in the field of popular music, we seek to understand the tense manner in which the styles that they are connect to, sometimes developed in consonance and sometimes in dissonance, but always by a dialectic of national and foreign elements in popular music. The Brazilian rockers of the 1980s, according to the current values in the field, sought to add characteristic elements of Brazil to their works, aiming to confer legitimacy to their productions. On the other hand, we see that the MPB singers did not achieve the same influence specially in the commercial sphere, demonstrating that rock and MPB styles continued to develop in distinct areas of the field. For this, various materials are mobilized such as interviews, songs and journalistic and biographical contents, linking the backgrounds of the rocker Lobão and the MPB singer Caetano Veloso.
