Eugênio Sigaud, whilst communist and atheist, made from art his worldview; Dom Geraldo, on his side, belonged to the conservative wing of the Church and raised the anticommunist and antiagrarianreformist flag all along his clerical activity. From this paradoxical partnership resulted 600 m² of mural art in which we identify, for example, the figure of Karl Marx. Thus, we selected two panels of the Church to construct a narrative in this article about the daring brushstrokes of Eugênio Sigaud in Jacarezinho. |

Nos anos 1950, Eugênio de Proença Sigaud é convidado para pintar o interior da Catedral Diocesana de Jacarezinho (PR). O encomendador é seu irmão, então bispo na localidade, Dom Geraldo de Proença Sigaud. Esse encontro é, no mínimo, intrigante, afinal as concepções filosóficas de um eram completamente avessas às do outro. Eugênio Sigaud, enquanto comunista e ateu, fazia da arte expressão de suas visões de mundo; Dom Geraldo, por sua vez, era da ala conservadora da Igreja e levantou a bandeira anticomunista e antiagrorreformista ao longo de toda a sua atuação clerical. Dessa parceria paradoxal resultaram 600 m² de arte mural nas quais identificamos, por exemplo, a figura de Karl Marx. Sendo assim, selecionamos dois painéis da igreja para construirmos uma narrativa neste artigo acerca das ousadas pinceladas de Eugênio Sigaud em Jacarezinho.
