Description
Summary:The present article is concerned with contemporary social situations that involved new ruralities, and it crosses other subjects like environment, identity, territory and tourism. The region of Ribeira Valley SP is known for the large number of Quilombolas communities. The André Lopes and Sapatú communities have their territories overlie with the Jacupiranga State Park. The lawsuit for the rights over the natural patrimony of that area is central in this context; the possibility of their tourist exploration is considered by local inhabitants as an economic alternative to the agriculture. Hence personal and familiar strategies reveal representations and practices where notions of ethnical, ecological and territorial identities articulate themselves.
