| Summary: | This paper covers the costumes made by Russian artist Alexandra Exter (1882-1949) for the science fiction Aelita, Queen of Mars and seeks to understand the visual solutions elaborated by Exter for the extraterrestrial characters, especially the central female figure who stars in the movie. Through the comparative analysis of images, we observe that the costumes elaborated for the film present both innovative features and avant-garde precepts as well as conventional visual formulas. The methodological posture is based on the practices of Aby Warburg. |
