Summary:The present article deals with the ornament of rococo style of the manuscripts of Eighteenth-century Brazil. The entering of the Rocaille style into Brazilian art and the particularities of its development necessitates even nowadays more detailed analysis. The objective here is to reflect on the influence of French engraving on the ornamentation of manuscripts of Eighteenth-century Brazil, effected by the exchange and use of prints carried by Portugal. The focus on the graphical aspect provides the basis for the analysis of the peculiarities of Rococo style, and allows understanding of the significance of the drawing in the history of Brazilian art.
