Sumario:This article discusses the process of adapting Brazilian rhythms to the drumset. The text starts from a historical overview of the insertion and accommodation of the instrument in Brazil, discussing its use, and the different applications of local rhythms, particularly samba, in distinct contexts of instrumental music - fox trot, orchestras, from the 1930s and 40s, gafieiras, sambajazz and improvised instrumental music post-1970. Supported by the recent academic production in the drumset area, in addition to renowned authors in musicology such as Piedade (2003), Mello (2007), Trotta (2008), Severiano (2008) and Cook (1998, 2013), the article aims to build an auxiliary analysis tool in the area in which it is inserted, namely, drumset and Brazilian rhythms studies. In this way, the text that follows shows the dominant paradigm present in the analysis concerning the use of Brazilian rhythms applied to the drumset, used by most studies dedicated to the theme. In a second stage the paper proposes an auxiliary tool for rhythmic analysis, which is built based on the reflections and studies of drummer and composer Nenê and his musical practices.
