Description
Summary:This paper aims to identify aspects related to musical improvisation in Marcus Tardelli’s performance based on Marcel Cobussen’s ideas. Cobussen sought to expand the scope of the concept of musical improvisation by stating that any musical performance has some degree of improvisation. Based on the observation of the acoustic guitarist’s musical practice and reflections that emerged from interviews granted by him, I identify elements of improvisation in his interpretative choices, in the fingerings, and the concert repertoire selections. I also discuss the routine study in the field of improvisation practices to relate it to technical and musical skills present in Tardelli’s musical performance. I highlight that this observation was possible because I am one of his private students, which enabled me to follow his practice more closely.
