Description
Summary:This editorial introduces the 2020 edition of the Revista Brasileira de Preservação Digital (RBPD), highlighting digital preservation as an urgent ethical and scientific commitment in the face of fragile modern media and the massive volume of data generated. The text synthesizes the volume's contributions, categorized by different textual typologies, which address everything from safeguarding institutional and photographic memory at UFBA to the practical challenges of maintaining the authenticity of historical documents. In the field of research data management, a procedural model proposal is discussed, along with the relevance of long-term preservation for compliance with FAIR principles. Technologically, the applicability of the Archivematica platform to audiovisual documents is evaluated. The volume also examines the regulatory framework of web archiving within the legislative landscape and brings international experiences from the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) through an interview. In short, the editorial reinforces the need to integrate theory, public policies, and effective technologies to strengthen research networks and inspire new practices in documentation centers across the country.
