| Summary: | This article deals the concept of “marginality” used by art critic Sergio Milliet in his approach to modern art. The objective is to bring the results of this approach closer to the debate surrounding the so-called Brazilian “marginal art” of the 1960s. Through eight chapters, written in the format of notes (marginalias) to our doctoral thesis, we will cross Milliet's reflection with that of the northern sociologists -Americans Robert Park and Everett Stonequist (creators of the concept of “marginality”) and with themes of Brazilian contemporary art and its cultural condition of underdevelopment. |
