Summary:In this article, the bases for the creation of Solano Trindade Archive, located within a public elementary school in the city of São Paulo, will be presented. It is a center for the custody, preservation and dissemination of meaningful documents for the history of the neighborhood, of the school and its patron, contributing to the feeling of belonging on the part of the subjects who occupy these spaces. It was conceived from research and extension projects that aimed to expand the school and local community relationship and knowledge of their memories and histories, as well as the articulation of this work with the teacher education process. The reader will be told the beginning of our activities, amid considerations about the concept of memory articulated to the discussion about the relevance of the presence of the collection in the school institution.
