| Summary: | This article aims to discuss and to publish the series Cartas de um Pintor (“Letters from a painter”), written by the brazilian artist Pedro Américo de Figueiredo e Mello (1843-1905) for the newspaper Gazeta de Notícias between the years 1884 and 1885. The eight letters set, partially unknown, started being written in Florence and was finished in Rio de Janeiro. The correspondence covers a wide range of subjects and Américo’s impressions regarding the places he travelled through. The chronology of the letters proves the arrival of Pedro Américo in Brazil during the 1884’s General Exhibition. |
