| Sumario: | No verão [In Summertime] is a pioneer painting in its theme and also by its singular history. It represents two naked girls lying down in a bed. Created by Eliseu Visconti (1866-1944) during his scholarship in Paris, it was included in two official art exhibitions in 1894. Reproduced in the catalogue cover of a recent exhibition, No verão had acquired more visibility and new interpretations. Its specific theme was found only in two paintings made before it, but with women: Le sommeil, by G. Courbet, and La siesta, by P. Pueyrredon. No verão, originated in the transition of the 19th to the 20th Century, take the characteristicsof that moment and of the art that would to become. |
