| Summary: | In this presentation, we aim to discuss some debates raised during the construction process of the dossier “Interpretations of Brazil and contemporary dilemmas”. Firstly, we analyze the concept “interpretations of Brazil” itself, in order to emphasize its theoretical relevance today and to discuss the contemporary status of the area of Brazilian Social Thought. Then, in a second moment, we deal more directly with some contemporary dilemmas, reflecting upon the challenge of articulating contemporary issues with the so-called classic authors that reflect about capitalism and modernity in the periphery. After these considerations, we make a brief presentation of the articles organized in this dossier. |
