Description
Summary:This study seeks to reflect on the life and work of Vânia Bambirra, one of the greatest interpreters in Brazil. Combining vast theoretical production with active political militancy, Bambirra was part of the so-called Marxist Theory of Dependence (TMD), together with Ruy Mauro Marini and Theotônio dos Santos. Articulating the Brazilian reality with the Latin American one, she brought together typical qualities of an organic intellectual, such as: debate on burning issues of her time, depth in the approach to themes, political activity with a socialist bias and a taste for fruitful polemics. All this was possible in an environment dominated, hegemonically, by men. And it is recognizing Bambirra's female representation that I aim to analyze her role in TMD, based on two specific topics: a) her interpretation of dependent capitalist development, through dependency typologies; b) its interpretation of the bourgeois revolution, through the concept of world monopoly intergration.
