Description
Summary:This is a reflection on the concept of “decolonialism” and its relationship with the visual arts in Brazil. The proposal is to understand the impact of the exponential growth of artistic and theoretical production focused on the issues of race, ethnicity and gender, and its contribution to the consolidation of a decolonial theory in Brazilian art. Despite the still small representativeness in the Brazilian artistic system, including in its decision-making spaces, afro-descendants, indigenous and people who do not fit into the gender binary system have been producing a significant poetic and theoretical mass, revealing the urgent need for reparation in the face of systematic erasure of their experiences and memories through the history of art with a Eurocentric and colonialist source.
