Summary:In a free and first-person narrative, this text tell the story of an encounter between an anthropologist's  with the mairá potato (Casimirella sp), a giant tuberous that is currently unknown, but widely used in the past by indigenous groups. The narrative starting point in the ethnographic reality of the indigenous groups from the Middle Purus River, and then expanded to a large part of the Amazon. Finally, the story leads to the problematization of themes such as gathering and domestication and the civilizing discourse that condemned the food use based on this plant of forest.
