Description
Summary:The aim of this article is to focus on the work of Xakriabá artisans with ceramics. It seeks to observe, besides production, also the circulation of the pieces produced between different places in the villages, highlighting their resumption, their importance and their place in everyday life among this Native people in Northern Minas Gerais. From this, it is expected to problematize the ways of knowledge through the practical experimentation of the potters with the clay of the villagesand its engagement with multiple raw materials, objects, tools and relationships that make pottery art an extremely complex activity, steeped in rich interactions between local human and non-human beings and of great value to the history and sociability of contemporary Xakriabá. The article relates the ecological dimension of Tim Ingold’s contemporary thought –in particular his conception of knowledge articulating sensitive modes and environment – and the experience of Xakriabá artisans with ceramics.
