Description
Summary:This article presents a synthetic view of my experiences with immanent criticism of popular music. Situated within an academic field in consolidation, and within a specific theoretical lineage outlined in it, these experiences are discussed in the light of the theories and works that motivated them. From works elaborated over more than a decade, I have chosen to highlight specific aspects that demonstrate the virtues and limitations of this type of interdisciplinary approach to popular music and, at the same time, explain the theoretical-methodological links which join them together. The theoretical elaboration of these experiences leads to a final reflection on the conditions of criticism itself.
