Description
Summary:This research analyzed the expectations and motivations of undergraduates who opted for undergraduate courses in Nature Sciences. The research has a qualitative approach with documental analysis, having as a database the dissertations and theses produced between 2010 and 2020. The data were analyzed using Discursive Textual Analysis. It was found that most undergraduates are female, economically concentrated in the lower class of the population. Points of attraction for the Degree were: greater access to the labor market, thus provoking a vision of social ascension, while it was demarcated, the contrast, that the unattractiveness is due to the low social value of the career, mainly demarcated in expectations of applicants for a career as a teacher, recognition of students and increased remuneration. Thus, it is possible to reflect on ways to increase the attractiveness of the career and, consequently, expand the number of licensed and qualified professionals to teach in Basic Education.
