Points of attraction for the Degree were: greater access to the labor market, thus provoking a vision of social ascension, while it was demarcated, the contrast, that the unattractiveness is due to the low social value of the career, mainly demarcated in expectations of applicants for a career as a teacher, recognition of students and increased remuneration. Thus, it is possible to reflect on ways to increase the attractiveness of the career and, consequently, expand the number of licensed and qualified professionals to teach in Basic Education. |

Essa pesquisa analisou as expectativas e motivações de licenciandos que optaram por cursos de graduação de Licenciatura em Ciências da Natureza. A pesquisa possui uma abordagem qualitativa com análise documental, tendo como base de dados as dissertações e teses produzidas entre os anos de 2010 e 2020. Os dados foram analisados com a Análise Textual Discursiva. Verificou-se que a maioria dos licenciandos é do sexo feminino, concentram-se economicamente na classe baixa da população. Pontos de atração para a Licenciatura foram: maior acesso ao mercado de trabalho, provocando assim, uma visão de ascensão social, ao mesmo tempo em que ficou demarcada, a contraposição, que a não atratividade se dá pela pouca valorização social à carreira, demarcada principalmente nas expectativas dos pretendentes à carreira de professor, o reconhecimento dos alunos e o aumento da remuneração. Com isso, pode-se refletir sobre formas de aumentar a atratividade da carreira e, consequentemente, expandir o número de profissionais licenciados e qualificados para o exercício da docência na Educação Básica.
