Summary:This article seeks to address the creation of the Faculty of Education of USP in 1970, having as narrative thread the memorialistic material produced by the author. From that point on, it aims to contextualize the emancipation of the Faculty of Education from its original mold, the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Languages of USP. Having as background the political process experienced by the University in the years preceding and following the University Reform of 1968, it discusses the internal repercussions of the Department of Education and the Faculty of Education, related to the return of the College of Application to the public system, as well as to the emptying of the Regional Center of Educational Research of São Paulo from 1970 on.
