| Sumario: | This text reconstructs and analyzes, in a fragmentary way, the participation of Paraná photographer Fernanda Castro (1951) in the First Latin American Contemporary Photography Exhibition (1978), which took place in Mexico City. Based on documentation about the event, biographical fragments of the artist and the reading of the two images taken by the photographer selected for the exhibition, we aim to map and interpreting the intentions of the curatorial proposal of the event, which had as its premise the inaugural formulation of a Latin photography identity American. For this we use the exhibition catalog and research in the collection of the Hemeroteca Digital Brasileira. Finally, we understand that producing, in the present, meanings from events, people and spaces of the past is configured in a repair strategy from which it is possible to locate the trajectories and representativeness of women in public and institutional collections that narrate the history of photography in Brazil, more strictly, and in Latin America. |
