Description
Summary:The purpose of this article is to analyze the concept of sacred that emerges in the artworks of Linn da Quebrada and Baco Exu of the Blues, artists who have been standing out in the contemporary scene from music, enlarging their performance also to performance, audiovisual, fashion, among other languages. Based on themes such as eroticism, sexuality, secrecy, as well as the innovative appropriation of institutionalized religious elements, such as orixás and gods, I identify the contours of a transgressive, attractive and repulsive force, which makes up the sacred in Linn and Bacchus' work. My hypothesis is that, considering the due differences between artists, their works contest the social bases that sustain racism, sexism and LGBTphobia, understanding the white, masculine and heteronormative hegemonic sacred as one of its pillars. Consequently, his proposal produces an alternative conception of the sacred in tune with the artistic practice aimed at society's resistance, subversion and change.
