Description
Summary:The machete has the particularity of being part of the national symbols of Angola's national flag and the Republic's insignia. Since November 11, 1975, in commemorations of the national independence and February 4, 1961, the machete has a prominent place as a symbolic object of remembrance and memorial of these events. This tool is likely a central element in the representations of a glorious memory of the armed struggle for liberation and conveys a sense of belonging. Hence the following question: could it be that, currently, the machete can be apprehended as a place of memory of the armed struggle for national liberation and, simultaneously, function as an ideological-identity element of generalization of the idea of a nation?
