Description
Summary:Since the 1960’s thousands of workers coming from different areas of Brazil have rushed into the cities of the Ribeirão Preto region, São Paulo, looking for employment in its coffee, sugar cane and orange farms. This migration resulted in the growth of periurban bairros inhabited by workers who live in town but work in the countryside. In the 1990’s, the plight of these workers has worsened, due to changes in the productive structure, which resulted in short-term jobs and unemployment. This article has the goal of analyzing the effects of this process over families, based in children’s representations as contained in their drawings.
