Description
Summary:This work is a kind of “second part” of a previous study, more theoretical and bibliographical in nature, on the issues of existence, experience and cultural perception of times and spaces in the rural world. It is a work placed between anthropological and geographical readings. My aim is to describe some of the current differences between several modes of “experiencing space-times” which prevail in distinct modes of rural (or rural-related) communities which exist in today’s Brazil, for better or worse. I start from the (incidentally self-evident) principle that the “Brazilian rural world” is much more diverse and polysemic than one generally imagines. I go back to a few ideas developed a long time ago by José de Souza Martins in Capitalism and Traditionalism to describe what seems to me to be most characteristic in three social forms of life and work in the rural world.
