Description
Summary:This article will deal with the fluxos, gatherings of young people in the streets of São Paulo's peripheries to listen to and dance to funk. Taking advantage of the possible semantic meanings of the words fluidity and movement that this concept allows, I will seek to raise some characteristics of the fluxos and of funk in São Paulo to characterize them as a cultural practice of the peripheries. Based on a field report about the violent police repression of an event, I will also try to understand the process of criminalization of bailes de rua (street dances), starting from the hypothesis that there are other reasons besides the nuisance they can cause to the neighbors.
