Description
Summary:This article seeks to interpret the cultural production of the street, taking into account its relationship with urban types and its political-aesthetic intervention in the daily life of the city, based on the work developed by writers who sell their works in downtown Rio de Janeiro. Among other activities, the street artists working in the capital hold periodic soirées that are important moments of knowledge and consecration of the works produced by subjects on the margins or not yet established in the cultural market. We demonstrate how discourses and disputes about city uses are produced during street culture events and meetings, which commonly honor local personalities and affirm the need to occupy open urban areas with citizenship obtained through art.
