Description
Summary:Assuming that the city and the country are spaces marked by traditions and values, this work deals with the specificity of elderliness in rural areas. We seek to understand, from an anthropological perspective, how social life is produced and reproduced by the elderly in these areas. Our interest is to look to the society where they are inscribed, as well as to how they are referred to by this society. The proposed analysis has its focus on Portuguese rural areas and, in a comparative perspective, instigates us to explore the practices and representations of old age in Brazil rural areas.
