Description
Summary:This paper describes a local land market which has emerged in a mexican ejido called Piedra Labrada. Since the liberal reforms in the 1990s, which ended with the institution of a new Agrarian Law, half of the ejido lands were sold by the younger generation to external buyers soon after they inherited the lands from his fathers and grandparents. The socioeconomic and cultural implications of this land market, particularly for the organization of household and the rules of inheritance, are analyzed.
