Description
Summary:The goal of this paper is to show how the agrarian communities were formed in the Middle Chinantla region in Oaxaca during the post-revolutionary, agrarian reform period in Mexico. At that time the Middle Chinantla had strong intercommunitary bonds, even as the hegemonic vision of State development projects as well as of anthropological theories shared a perspective in which pueblos where seen as isolated. We show that pueblos or local communities were not isolated among themselves and have never been so, since the interchange of goods, ideas and relationships are fundamental to their biologic and social reproduction.
