Summary:The object of this article is to discuss strategies and tactics of fight for land of the leaseholders in the carioca back-country in 40’s and 60’s. A process of intensive urbanization started conflicts for land between leaseholders and land grabbers in the downtown of the city of Rio de Janeiro. The approach is going to be through the concepts and theories that allow one same figure could be interpreted in different ways, having an attention for the actions and reactions of the involved actors in the fight as historic constructions, according with the local adversities and possibilities.
