Summary:The province of Santiago del Estero, located in the northwest region of Argentina, is an important traditional source of transient migrant labor. These migration flows change their conformation and redefine its composition as a result of different processes of social and productive change. These changes are reflected in the behavior of households and their members as well as in the migration patterns emerging. This article specifically discusses the formation of the current migratory patterns of the northwest area of the province of Santiago del Estero.
