Description
Summary:This paper describes the succession of natural resources management of a group of families in a valley in southwestern Piauí, presently surrounded by the modern soy farming and processing complex. Traditional farming techniques change whilst they try to preserve their peasant autonomy. As 70s industrial farmers applied for government funds but made no real investments, they learned to use limestone which allowed them to cultivate dry areas above the plateau. They presently face challenges with recently established soy farmers.
