| Summary: | This essay aims to present a brief ethnography of the knowledge of the artisanal fishermen from Carrasqueira – a small village located in the Portuguese central coast. The ethnography made between 2010 and 2011 exposes how these fishermen classify some of the species that constitute the complex fauna from Sado estuary. The fishermen classificatory logic seems similar to what Émile Durkheim described in "Elementary Forms of Religious Life" with regard to politetic classifications. |
