| Summary: | The changes occurred during the history of the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (TARE) in Brazil have resulted in a diversity of service providers, with different ways of acting. This study analyzed the TARE provided by public, private and civil society organizations in Tomé-Açu, Pará State. The differences found among them are the result of institutional positioning, the infrastructure conditions faced by each entity and the profile of the technicians involved. This multiplicity of actors and the centrality in family farming turn TARE in Tomé-Açu into a promising activity, despite the difficulties observed in the region. |
