Description
Summary:This article presents an experience of libertarian education in Valéria, a peripheral neighborhood of Salvador city, Bahia, Brazil, between 2004 and 2014, through the creation of the Valéria Socio-environmental Institute (ISVA). We used memories of our own experiences, records from the ISVA blog, printed materials, photos, videos, documentaries, and an interview for the Anarchist News Agency (ANA). Learning Webs (Illich, 1973) formed around an Experiential Educational Community (Goodman, 1976). In the ten years of ISVA we learned that “the path to freedom is freedom” (Bakunin, 1986) by building intergenerational dialogues without hierarchies and uniting fun and responsibility within a collective construction.
