Description
Summary:The experience of intense mobility is characteristic of family relationships for those who currently live in rural settlements at the Zona da Mata de Pernambuco. Taking into account the territoriality of the work trajectories and different stages of the life cycle of these people, I demonstrate how the possibility of becoming a mother can be extended beyond a woman’s fertile period, namely, when she receives children at home who may become her “foster children”. These processual aspects fit in wider debates on filiation, parenting and conjugality, bringing a new understanding about intergenerational reproduction and the continued identities that result from it.
