Taking into account the territoriality of the work trajectories and different stages of the life cycle of these people, I demonstrate how the possibility of becoming a mother can be extended beyond a woman’s fertile period, namely, when she receives children at home who may become her “foster children”. These processual aspects fit in wider debates on filiation, parenting and conjugality, bringing a new understanding about intergenerational reproduction and the continued identities that result from it. |

A vivência de uma intensa mobilidade caracteriza as relações familiares daqueles que vivem actualmente nos assentamentos rurais da Zona da Mata pernambucana. Adoptando uma abrangência temporal que tem em conta a territorialidade das trajetórias laborais e diferentes fases do ciclo de vida destas pessoas, argumento que a possibilidade de vir a ser mãe pode ser prolongada além do período fértil de uma mulher, designadamente, quando recebe em casa crianças que poderão vir a tornar-se seus "filhos de criação". Esta processualidade enquadra-se o debate em torno da filiação, parentalidade e conjugalidade, trazendo um novo entendimento sobre a reprodução intergeracional e as continuidades identitárias que dela decorrem.
