Description
Summary:In order to deepen the disputes that involve the so-called uberization or labor platforming, we propose a theoretical displacement of these key concepts towards the telewage-labor category, which exposes the immanent link between: a. the phenomenon of algorithmic subordination of living work to the profitability interests of startups and techno-digital companies that make use of this new business model; and b. the social forms of the contemporary capitalist mode of production that establish the legality of this process. Inherited from the critique of political economy, these forms of capital sociability are inherent to the very genesis and development of economic activities that increasingly link the world of work to the new information and communication technologies (NICTs). Our central hypothesis, therefore, involves understanding that, in order to deepen the rich existing debate on this topic, it is necessary to make explicit the nature of the social relations of production that are hidden by the blinding glare of the notorious network sharing. These relationships are constituted by the 'old' salaried work for the benefit of capital, now under modalities of remote labor agency formerly unfeasible. We also point out that the predominance of the Brazilian export agro-extractive economic model and its restricted dimension in the formal (workforce) labor market accentuate these new modalities of on-demand service provision.
