Description
Summary:In 2015, within the context of several closings of rural schools and local discussion about education, traditional populations of Vale do Ribeira-SP (quilombolas, indigenous people, caiçaras, caboclos and ribeirinhos) were protagonists in the cycle of public hearings on differentiated education that took place in the region. The biggest talking points were demands for a differentiated education and complaints about infrastructural problems, transportation, school meals, etc. that have been compromising the students’ permanence in the region. Thus, in order to contribute to the process of disseminating their talking points, and to analyze the formats of such mobilization, I seek to explore such public hearings in this article. The focus is presenting the potential and limitations of such format, one of collective participation towards the making of a fighting narrative.
