O presente trabalho teve por objetivo apresentar uma discussão sucinta acerca dos preços de terras no Brasil no período recente. A hipótese inicial é de que os altos preços das commodities afetaram os preços das terras, no Brasil. Para tanto, foram utilizados dados da FGVdados para os preços da terra e do Fundo Monetário Internacional, para os dados de preços de commodities. Os resultados mostram uma forte correlação entre os preços internacionais como os preços das terras no Brasil, ambos apresentam um comportamento altista. Os fatores, para tanto, podem ser atribuídos pela maior demanda global de produtos intensivos em recursos naturais, que tem a terra, para agricultura ou pastagens, parte de seu processo produtivo.
