| Summary: | This article discusses the practice of blessing animals in rural properties in the state of São Paulo. Supported by the bibliography on the subject, the text discusses the reports of benzedores and farmers in the municipality of Itaju about blessing, obtained during semi-structured interviews carried out during the field research. Then, the article seeks to present, first, how the blessing is performed both by benzedores and by those who seek their services, whose role is fundamentally associated with faith and, mainly, that it is a practice that constitutes, with other tasks, the work of taking care of the animal husbandry. |
