| Summary: | We bring a socio-anthropological approach to the narratives present in the work of the artist Leonilson, painter, designer and sculptor, born in Ceará. His autobiographical works cross temporality, as a consequence of his history, as well as social issues. The symbols present in his works bring up themes about sexuality, and his inspirations produce works that have a direct, subjective, and collective relationship with his homo-affectivity and the disease that caused his death, AIDS. His art is interwoven with other people's trajectories, refers to the depths and plots of being in the world and its (un)affections, from a non-linearity of time. The paintings, embroidery, sculptures, and audios narrate experiences of prejudice, denial, and pain. Leonilson was a critical individual about his time and place, showing the tensions that exist in producing art. |
